The Department values all its alumni: they represent a vital link between the university and the larger national and international communities within which alumni operate.
CCS Events
As valued past students of the Department, we encourage you to keep in touch with us by attending events - such a public lectures, seminars, colloquia and conferences - organised by the Department. The Department has a very active schedule of events that are open to the public. It runs a seminar series in which national and international speakers contribute to topical issues of public debate, scholarly research and cultural innovation. The Department stages the biennial Body Modification Conference. The Body Modification Conference has emerged as the premier international conference devoted to the study of all aspects of body modification. The Department also holds one-day colloquia that critically examine topical political, cultural and social issues. Past colloquia include Unrequited Justice, which examined the criminalisation of targeted youth in Australian culture.

Donations and Bequests
CCS alumni often remark on the fact that they find the skills and knowledges that they acquire in the course of their Critical and Cultural Studies education life transforming - particularly underscoring the manner in which skills of cultural literacy have enabled them critically to revaluate the society and culture in which they live. CCS alumni have also remarked on the fact that a CCS education has imparted them with the skills constructively to address questions of ethics and difference in the context of their everyday lives. As the CCS mission statement makes clear, the Department is committed to providing an Arts education that is critically relevant to the everyday lives of its students.
You can choose to donate to the Department of Critical and Cultural Studies in order to support the Department in continuing to meet its educational objectives in the future. The University is reliant on the ongoing financial support of donations and bequests by its alumni in order to augment monies provided by the government (the government now provides less than 30% of the University's total funding). Your donation will ensure that the Department can continue to maintain its level of educational and research excellence into the future. Your gift to the university can take many different forms, including the funding of: scholarships, innovative research or teaching projects, new infrastructure and technology, new buildings and facilities, and so on.
Donations to the University over $2 are tax deductible. To make a donation, please visit Macquarie University's Alumni Giving site.
