Leg Scar

Theresa Meyers When I was about 22 years old I bartended in Albuquerque, and I was, of course, younger and skinnier and more flexible then. And this guy made me a bet that I couldn’t stand on one leg and put one leg behind my neck, which I did, and won the bet. Well, his friend came up and said he didn’t get to see it. "I’ll bet you can’t do it again." So I stood on my left leg and pulled my right leg and put it behind my neck, and I fell into the well. If you’ve ever been into a bar or bartended, right underneath where the mixers are, are all your liquors, your tequilas, your scotches... and they have those little metal tops in them that help you pour. Well, when I fell I got one of those bottle tops stuck inside my leg. They had to pull it out and, of course, I bled everywhere. All over my pants. My boss wouldn’t let me go home, and I never found the piece of skin that was missing, so somebody got it in their drink.
